The key points and topics covered are also summarised below.
Investment update
Jacob Siara, one of our Chartered Financial Planners, delivered an investment update running through key economic updates from 2025.
One key takeaway from Jacob’s update was that the data strongly supports our view that in the long term, the most efficient investment strategy is to maximise your time in the markets, and not try to time them.
Are you scam aware?
Being scam aware is something that’s important to all of us. With the development of AI over the past few years, the risks are becoming greater and harder to spot.
Here are three simple steps you can take today to better protect yourself online:
- Recognise the tactics – urgency, emotion, scarcity, unlikely opportunity, and flattery are common techniques used by scammers.
- Don’t assume callers are legitimate – even if you recognise the name or number of the person calling you, call them back (ideally from a mobile) on a number you have found independently.
- Use a unique password for every online account – password managers, for example 1Password, can help create and manage your passwords. Or simply use a pen and paper!
